Horst von Buttlar

Horst von Buttlar has been Editor-in-Chief of “WirtschaftsWoche” since March 2023. He was previously editor-in-chief of “Capital” since 2013 and Managing Director of Gruner + Jahr Wirtschaftsmedien, which included “Capital” and the tech magazine “Business Punk”. He started several successful podcasts; currently he is co-host of WirtschaftsWoches flagship podcasts “Leben mit Aktien” and “Chefgespräch”. Von Buttlar studied Slavic studies, history and political science and graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich. In 2004, he joined the “Financial Times Deutschland” (FTD) as commentary editor and took over as head of the reporter team in 2007. In 2009, he became head of department at G+J Wirtschaftsmedien (“FTD”, “Capital”, “Impulse”, “Business Punk”). In 2005, he was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize. In 2008, he was awarded the Herbert Quandt Media Prize for Business Journalism, and in 2019 he was named “Business Journalist of the Year”. In 2011, he was a Bucerius Fellow at Harvard University. In 2022, he published the book “The Green Decade”, which traces the transformation of the economy towards climate neutrality.
